IJsselmeer can help resolve sand shortage
Smals is working in collaboration with partner sand miners under the name “De Zandkoepel v.o.f.” on fairway maintenance Urk-Den Oever. Over a length of about 19 kilometres, sand is being extracted in the IJsselmeer off the North Holland coast and along the island of De Kreupel.
In the past, Smals went public with a project initiative in cooperation with parties, which ultimately did not go ahead. Nevertheless, as an extension of the current fairway maintenance, Smals is exploring further development opportunities in the IJsselmeer region.
