Smals supports maintenance of Vermuntsee reservoir, Austria

For major maintenance of the Vermuntsee reservoir in Austria, it was necessary to temporarily drain the lake.
To prevent silt and sediment from entering the river during this process, Smals was engaged to carefully remove the released material and remediate the watercourse.

With our specialist knowledge and experience in responsible dredging, we ensured that water quality was maintained and that the work could be carried out according to the highest environmental standards. By removing the sediment in advance, the risk of disruption to the outflow system was greatly reduced, and the surrounding ecosystem remained optimally protected.

This assignment was carried out in close collaboration with several partners. We thank Illwerke VKW for their trust in Smals, PS-Survey Group for the hydrographic surveys, and Jan Kees Boer Transport for carefully transporting the equipment to the mountainous project site.

With this project, Smals contributes to sustainable water management in sensitive mountain areas, where nature, safety, and technical quality go hand in hand.
