Start of dredging works at Hobhole Drain

03 September 2025
Koninklijke Smals
Dredging works have commenced at Hobhole Drain.
The project focuses on improving the flow of the watercourse while minimising impact on nature and the surrounding environment.

The dredged material is temporarily dewatered in an adjacent lagoon. The nutrient-rich sediments are then responsibly applied to the fields of local farmers, giving the material a valuable second use.

This project is carried out in close collaboration with Witham Fourth IDB, Miles Water Engineering, and JESpence & Son. Thanks to this cooperation, the work is executed safely, efficiently, and sustainably, with respect for both the ecosystem and the local community.
