Dewatering around the Bergambacht Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)

Bergambacht
Smart dredging
Around the Bergambacht Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), silt had accumulated, requiring dewatering and processing.
On behalf of the main contractor De Heer Land en Water, Smals dewatered the dredged silt on-site using flocculants and HDW Soiltains®. This approach allowed the silt to be efficiently separated and its volume significantly reduced.

For the project, a compact polymer unit was deployed, including the necessary hoses and valves directly connected to the Soiltains®. The clean dredged silt was reused on the WWTP site itself, raising a large part of the adjacent plot well above the waterline. The contaminated portion of the silt was transported to certified processors. Thanks to the significant volume reduction, the number of transport movements by road considerably decreased.
