Maintenance of Cadzand Marina on the North Sea

Smart dredging
The Cadzand Marina is a popular harbour for yachts from the Netherlands and abroad, especially in spring and summer.
Due to sediment accumulation from the adjacent canal and the North Sea, periodic maintenance dredging is required. Every two years, the marina is dredged to depth, ensuring both moorings and access remain fully usable.

During suitable weather conditions, sand just outside the marina is also dredged, maximising access to this beautifully located harbour. The dredged, site-specific material is sustainably returned behind the breakwater, allowing sediment to naturally reintegrate into the ecosystem. Thanks to the flexibility of the cutter dredger, the work can be carried out without moving the pontoons; the swing ladder of the 10-inch cutter dredger can easily dredge beneath the pontoons.
