In Heteren, a former sand extraction pit has been redeveloped into the future nature reserve “De Put”.
For a construction materials supplier, Smals carefully reshaped the slopes of the pit and efficiently processed the released sand and sediment as part of the redevelopment plan.
Using the Maas dredger, a 600-metre long pipeline, and a bulldozer, the material was moved and reused in a controlled manner, allowing the site to be restored sustainably and ecologically. By reusing the local residual material, transport was minimised and the site prepared for future nature development.
