Naturally Smals. For us these are not just empty words. We put this motto into practice explicitly by making sure environmental protection and quality of life are held up as important core values in everything we do.
Environmental awareness is becoming increasingly important within the raw materials and construction sectors. For decades now Smals has been making this an integral part of the agreements it makes with public authorities, interest groups and local residents. Over time, reducing CO2 emissions has also been included as an additional, self-evident focus area. Our business processes have therefore become ever more energy efficient and carbon neutral, thanks to measures ranging from the electrification of our installations and modes of transport through to the use of renewable HVO diesel. This is a fossil-free fuel with low emissions that is also biodegradable.
Our Vierlingsbeek sand processing plant has significantly reduced its fuel consumption and is graduallybeing switched over to full electrification
Vierlingsbeek sand processing plant received the platinum certificate from the Concrete Sustainability Council in recognition of contributing to a sustainable concrete chain
The workshop generates the energy it needs itself via solar panels
For future projects we are aiming to achieve electrification of production
We make use of environmentally friendly B50 HVO diesel
Air travel is kept to a minimum
At the beginning of 2019 Smals signed the Civil and Hydraulic Engineering Projects Green Deal
Plans and processes increasingly energy efficient and environmentally friendly
